Built for
developers who care
UUIDForge is a zero-dependency, privacy-first UUID generator that lives entirely in your browser. No accounts, no tracking, no server round-trips — just fast, spec-compliant identifiers whenever you need them.
Our Mission
Every developer eventually reaches for a UUID. Too often that means opening a new browser tab, landing on a cluttered page filled with ads, and wondering whether the tool is logging every identifier they generate. We built UUIDForge to be the tool we always wanted: fast, clean, and provably private because all computation happens inside the Web Crypto API — the same engine your browser uses for TLS.
Our mission is simple: make RFC 4122-compliant UUID generation so frictionless that it disappears into your workflow. Whether you need a single v4 for a database primary key or a thousand v1 UUIDs for a migration script, UUIDForge should feel like a native part of your toolbox.
Core Principles
UUIDs are generated using crypto.getRandomValues() and crypto.subtle.digest(). Nothing is ever sent to a server — by design, not by policy.
No network latency, no backend queue. A v4 UUID generates in under 0.1 ms on any modern device. Bulk generation of 1 000 UUIDs completes in a single frame.
Every UUID output conforms to RFC 4122. Version bits, variant bits, and clock sequence constraints are enforced — not approximated.
Full keyboard navigation, ARIA roles, and semantic HTML ensure UUIDForge is usable by everyone regardless of assistive technology.
No npm, no bundler, no third-party UUID library. Pure web platform APIs only — which means no supply-chain risk and instant load times.
UUIDForge is MIT-licensed open source. There are no premium tiers, no rate limits, and no plans to monetise through data collection.
Technology Stack
Python backend — serves the Jinja2 templates and static assets. Minimal route surface: just page rendering. Zero UUID generation server-side.
Template engine — base.html provides the layout shell; each page overrides named {% block %} regions. No server-side state passed to templates.
UUID generation engine — crypto.getRandomValues() for v4, timestamp arithmetic for v1, and crypto.subtle.digest('SHA-1', …) for v5.
Sonic feedback — the AudioContext oscillator API produces generate, copy, and error tones without loading any audio files.
Animated background — a particle-network rendered via requestAnimationFrame on a full-viewport <canvas>. Pure CPU, no WebGL.
Design system — a single set of custom properties drives all colour, spacing, and motion. Dark theme only; no runtime theme switching needed.
Project Milestones
Single-page v4 generator shipped. Web Crypto API backend, zero external dependencies, sub-100 ms TTFB on shared hosting.
Time-based UUID v1 and name-based SHA-1 UUID v5 added. Namespace selector (DNS, URL, OID, X.500) introduced.
Bulk generator (up to 1 000 UUIDs), .txt and .csv download, inline validator with version and variant detection.
Canvas particle background, Web Audio feedback tones, full SEO meta, JSON-LD structured data, and responsive mobile layout.
UUID v7 (Unix-time ordered), browser extension, and API endpoint planned. Feature requests welcome via the Contact page.
